Tamang Heritage Trail

USD $ 0 p/p

The Tamang Heritage Trek veers off the beaten trail to explore the naturally and culturally rich heritage of the ancient Langtang Valley. Only recently has the LangtangTamang Heritage Trail opened this previously restricted area that borders Tibet. Though the trailhead to the Langtang Valley is only 8-9 hours drive from Kathmandu, this region remains for the most part unknown to the world around it. On this relatively gentle trek through quaint villages, terraced fields and valleys you get magnificent views of the surrounding peaks, soaks in natural hot spring baths and a cultural immersion.

We pass through many traditional villages of the warm and welcoming Tamang people, a tribe whose origins are in Tibet. Steeped in Tibetan tradition and unchanged over centuries, their monasteries, stone houses, carved wooden porches, culture, clothing and crafts give a clear insight into the history and culture of this tribe. Staying in village guest houses enhances the cultural experience by allowing you to have close interaction with the local people.

The panoramic views of Mt. Langtang, Kerung and Ganesh Himal on the Tamang Heritage Trek are stunning. An ancient fort on the Nepal-Tibet border at Rasuwagadi is a historical monument of the past.

Trekking the LangtangTamang Heritage trail is like stepping inside the solitude and the serenity of the Himalayas.
